Mrs. Ivy May Grant

Founder & Visionary Matriarch

A pioneer in Jamaican education, Mrs. Grant’s unwavering faith and commitment to youth development transformed a private preparatory class of six into a national pillar of excellence.

Early Beginnings

Camperdown High School was established in 1930. What began as a humble vision by Mrs. Grant soon became a sanctuary for students seeking spiritual, social, and intellectual growth. Her founding mission remains the heartbeat of our campus today.

A Growing Influence

By 1958, the institution achieved grant-aided status. The enrollment surged to 300 students as the curriculum expanded to include robust science and humanities programs, ensuring that every “Champion” was equipped for the world beyond our gates.

The Culture of Excellence

The school’s reputation was built not just in the classroom, but on the track. Our world-renowned athletics program and diverse extracurricular clubs have forged generations of leaders, diplomats, and innovators who serve Jamaica and the globe.

Into the Modern Era

Today, with over 1,400 students, Camperdown High School continues to evolve. We bridge nearly a century of tradition with 21st-century innovation, ensuring that the foundation laid by Mrs. Ivy May Grant stays as strong as the day it was built.
